Lead by example. When your children see you eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, they too will want to try them.

Always give your child fruits or vegetables with each meal. The more your child sees fruits and vegetables on their plate the more likely he or she will want to try them. It may take several tries before a child gets used to the taste of a new item so ask them to take one bite.

Hold a “taste testing party”. Try making a fun game of tasting new food. Cut up a variety of fruits and vegetables, then put out fun dips and start tasting!

Reward your child for completing the SnackerTracker. At the end of each day or month, give them some fun stickers, markers or pencils.

Add fruits and vegetables to food. Top pizza with red and green peppers or mushrooms. Puree cauliflower and add it to your spaghetti sauce. Put sliced strawberries on pancakes or add blueberries to cereal. Add squash to macaroni and cheese.

Let your child be the chef. Give them the chance to help cook dinner. This will not only bring your family closer, but it will give your child the opportunity to be a part of the meal. Let them measure out the corn or dish up the salad.
